What do Avraham and Nike have in common? The powerful message
This week’s Torah portion begins with HaShem instructing Avraham “Lech lecha, go for yourself” – which our Rabbis explains is to go on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth.
“Lech lecha – Go for yourself”. Meaningful growth entails rising above the challenge, and at times leaving our comfort zone
It could not have been easy for Avraham to go on this journey, to leave him home, start a journey and not know what his destination was. There are times when have to live our own Lech lecha – “Just do it” – for yourself, for your family, for the Jewish people.
This past week in Israel was Yom Aliya and thousands of olim - immigrants to celebrate their journey. We all left our comfort zones, our loved ones and friends. Oh boy I have been on a journey of self discovery and growth. Mostly I have had to redefine my comfort zone.
Perhaps we can all use the powerful message of this Shabbat to think how we can each redefine our own comfort zone and “just do it”, go and make those changes for yourself or your family.
